Teeth in one day: what immediate loading really means

You can leave the clinic with fixed teeth on the day of surgery, but the bridge you walk out with is provisional and a torque wrench decides who qualifies.

What actually happens on the day

Failing teeth are removed, the implants are placed, a digital scan is taken and a screw-retained acrylic bridge is fitted the same afternoon. You eat soup that evening and fly home with fixed teeth in your mouth. For a full arch on four implants this whole sequence starts at two thousand nine hundred euros, and the provisional bridge is part of that figure rather than an extra line at the end.

The torque wrench decides, not the calendar

Immediate loading depends on primary stability, which we measure the moment the implant is seated. Around thirty-five newton centimetres of insertion torque, or a comparable stability reading, is the usual threshold. Below it we bury the implant, you wear a removable temporary for three months and nothing is lost except a little pride. Soft bone in the upper back jaw fails this test far more often than the lower jaw does.

Why the final bridge waits three to six months

Bone grows onto a titanium surface over roughly three months, and during that window excessive micromovement is the one thing that stops it. Acrylic is deliberately more forgiving than zirconium: it absorbs load, and it is easy to adjust chairside. Gums also shrink and reshape for months after extractions, so a definitive bridge made in week one would sit against a gum line that no longer exists by month four.

Single teeth are a different question

In the front of the mouth, an immediate implant with an immediate temporary crown protects the gum triangle between teeth and often gives the best aesthetic result available. The crown is shaped out of the bite so nothing loads it. Molars rarely qualify, and we do not attempt immediate loading in a heavy smoker with soft bone, because the failure would cost you a second trip and a graft.

Frequently asked questions

Teeth in one day: what immediate loading really means

Yes, and most patients do. The bridge is screw-retained, so if anything loosens it can be tightened by any dentist. We send you home with the screwdriver specification and the torque value your local dentist needs.

Soft food that a fork can break: eggs, fish, pasta, minced meat, cooked vegetables. No bread crusts, no nuts, no ice, and nothing you have to tear with the front teeth. The restriction is about protecting healing, not about the acrylic.
