The Smallest Operation With The Biggest Effect.

Eight to twelve millimetres of skin, marked with you sitting upright and rechecked with a pinch test. The limit is not aesthetic: below a certain amount of remaining skin, the lid cannot close.

The Measurement That Sets The Limit.

The safe answer is whatever leavesat least twenty millimetres of skinbetween the lower border of the eyebrow and the lash line once the eyelid is closed. Below that the lid cannot close fully, and a lid that does not close dries the cornea. Most surgeons also preserve at least ten millimetres above the crease.

The amount actually removed is typically eight to twelve millimetres, marked with forceps gently pinching the excess until the lashes just begin to turn outward. That point is the maximum, and we mark inside it.

It has to be donesitting upright, because lying flat changes how the brow sits and how the skin falls. Anyone who marks an upper lid on a reclined patient is guessing. Two eyelids are never marked to identical numbers.

When The Problem Is The Brow, Not The Lid.

A significant minority of patients who ask for eyelid surgery actually have a descended eyebrow. Removing lid skin in that situation pulls the brow down further and makes the face look heavier.

The test is simple: lift the brow gently with a finger to its natural position and see how much hooding remains. If most of it disappears, the operation you need is a brow lift, or both together. We say this even when it means quoting a different procedure.

Lower Lid: Repositioning Fat, Not Removing It.

The bulge under a lower lid is orbital fat pushing forward, and the hollow below it is the tear trough. Removing the fat flattens the bulge and deepens the hollow, which is why some lower blepharoplasties from twenty years ago left eyes looking older rather than younger.

Repositioning moves that same fat down over the orbital rim to fill the trough instead. It is more technical and it is the reason a lower lid result should look rested rather than hollowed.

Dry Eye: How Likely, How Long.

Some dryness, grittiness or watering in the first two to six weeks is common, because blink mechanics and tear film distribution are temporarily disturbed. Drops are part of the standard aftercare, not a sign something went wrong.

Persistent dry eye is uncommon and is far more likely in people who already had it before surgery. If you use drops regularly now, say so at the consultation: it changes how conservative we are with skin, and occasionally it changes our advice to no surgery at all.

Upper eyelid surgery takes about forty-five minutes per side under local anaesthesia with light sedation, and you walk out the same day. Fat is removed only where it genuinely bulges, because a hollow upper lid ages a face rather than rejuvenating it.

The Ones People Actually Ask.

Is plastic surgery in Turkey safe?

It is when it is done properly. Your operation takes place in a licensed full-fledged hospital with intensive care on site, performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon, under a Health Tourism Authorisation Certificate from the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health. We also hold Temos international accreditation and an ISO 9001 (UKAS) certified management system. Ask any clinic abroad for these three things before you book.

How many days do I need to stay in Istanbul for surgery?

Plan 6-7 nights for most operations: consultation and tests on day one, surgery on day two, one night in hospital where needed, then dressing changes and the final check-up before you fly. Eyelid surgery and small procedures need only 3-4 nights.

Who will perform my operation?

A plastic surgeon certified by the Turkish Ministry of Health, never an assistant or technician. You meet your surgeon before the operation, discuss what is realistic for your anatomy, and the same surgeon sees you at the post-operative check-up.

Why is aesthetic surgery cheaper in Turkey than in Europe?

Lower running costs, favourable exchange rates and high surgical volume, not lower standards. The implants, sutures and devices are the same CE-certified brands used in Europe, and our surgeons operate every week rather than a few times a month.

When can I fly and go back to work after surgery?

Flying is normally cleared 5-7 days after surgery. Desk work is possible after about a week for rhinoplasty and eyelid surgery, and 2-3 weeks for body procedures such as tummy tuck, BBL or mommy makeover. Your surgeon gives you a written timeline for your case.

Do you help with hotel, transfers and translation?

Yes. VIP airport transfers, a translator in your language and help with hotel booking are part of every package, and your coordinator stays with you from the first message until long after you fly home.

One Patient, Three Frames.
