An electric trimmer with a guard is allowed at week three, a foil shaver at week four, and a wet razor across the grafted zone only after six weeks. The donor area at the back of the scalp follows normal transplant rules and can be clipped at around day ten.
Grafts are mechanically loose for the first seventy-two hours and held by fibrin rather than by healed tissue. Crusts separate between day seven and day twelve and take the visible hair shaft with them, which is expected shedding and not failure — the follicle stays behind in the skin. Shaving during that window drags the crust sideways and can lift the graft with it. It is the single most avoidable way to lose a result.
Between weeks three and eight the transplanted beard largely disappears and your face returns to roughly how it started. Regrowth begins around month three, becomes obvious at month five, and final density is judged at month twelve.
