Botulinum toxin type A temporarily blocks the signal travelling from nerve to muscle, so the muscles that fold the skin at the forehead, glabella and outer eye corners relax. The lines they create soften over three to seven days and settle by two weeks. We map which muscles actually move your face before injecting, and use the smallest dose that achieves the change, so the surrounding muscles keep working. The effect fades gradually after three to four months. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
