When one session is not enough, and how to plan two properly
Splitting a large case is not a failure or an upsell. It is what protects graft survival and donor reserve.
Why 6,000 grafts in one day is a bad idea
Grafts kept outside the body for many hours lose viability, surgical teams tire, and donor extraction over a huge area risks damage. Sessions above 4,500 trade long-term quality for a single day's arithmetic.
The standard staging
Session one: hairline and frontal third, 3,500-4,500 grafts. Wait twelve months for full growth and donor recovery. Session two: crown or added density, typically 2,000-3,000 grafts. Both sessions are priced separately and honestly from the start.
Why waiting a year matters
Donor density recovers as surrounding hairs grow. Extracting again at six months harvests from an area that has not visually recovered and increases the risk of a patchy donor.
How we quote it
If your case needs two sessions, that appears in the first written plan with both prices. A quote that promises everything in one day for a Norwood 6 should be read carefully.
The Ones People Actually Ask.
Is the second session cheaper?
Usually, because donor preparation and planning are already done. We quote it transparently at the outset rather than after the first session.
