What a sapphire blade actually changes in an FUE transplant

What the blade actually is

A sapphire blade is a tip cut from synthetic corundum, the same crystal family as the gemstone, and it does one job only: it opens the recipient channels that grafts are later placed into. It does not extract follicles and it never touches the donor area. Conventional slits are cut with flat steel; the sapphire tip is ground to a V or a cone, so the channel it opens is narrower at the surface and deeper than it is wide.

The claims that hold up

A harder, smoother edge produces a cleaner incision with less lateral tissue damage, so the channel closes more tightly around each graft. In practice that means smaller crusts, a scalp that looks presentable two or three days earlier, and slightly less oozing on the first evening. Those are real, observable differences in the first fortnight, and they are the honest reason we use sapphire tips as our default rather than a headline.

The claims that do not hold up

No blade increases the number of follicles that survive. Survival is decided by how long grafts spend outside the body, how gently they are handled, and how skilled the person placing them is. Sapphire adds no density, does not shorten the twelve-month growth curve, and cannot rescue a badly designed hairline. A clinic charging €500 extra for the tip is selling you the marketing rather than the mechanism.

How it is priced here

Sapphire tips are included in our €1,800 FUE package rather than sold as an upgrade, because a consumable that costs the clinic a few euros should not carry a four-figure premium. DHI at €2,300 uses no blade at all, the Choi implanter pen opens the channel and places the graft in one movement, so a quote for sapphire DHI is a quote for something that does not exist.
