July and August run 30 to 34 degrees with humidity that makes it feel worse, and the issue is not comfort. Sweat under a surgical dressing macerates the skin. Sun on a fresh scar drives pigmentation that can take a year to fade, which is why we insist on SPF 50 and a wide hat for six months. Heat also swells a rhinoplasty nose that was settling nicely.
December to February sits at 5 to 10 degrees with rain rather than snow, and it suits recovery. Cold reduces swelling, there is no sun to damage a scar, flights and hotels cost a third less, and our appointment book has room. The trade-offs are honest ones: wet cobbles are slippery when your balance is off, and a cold wind on a freshly transplanted scalp is unpleasant for about a week.
Late April to early June and mid-September to the end of October hold 15 to 24 degrees with low humidity. That is the range where a compression garment after liposuction is tolerable rather than punishing, where you can walk for an hour without sweating into a dressing, and where the city is at its best if you are also here to see it. Button-front shirts if anything was done to your head — nothing that has to be pulled over the face after rhinoplasty, a facelift or a transplant. Loose elasticated waistbands after abdominal work; a compression garment does not fit under jeans. Slip-on shoes if bending is restricted. And layers regardless of season, because Turkish indoor heating in winter is aggressive and every shop in August is at 20 degrees.
