Three To Eight Shades, And Not On Every Tooth.

In-office whitening moves most people three to eight shades in one ninety-minute session. What decides your number is the colour you start from, and some discolouration does not respond at all.

The Honest Answer: Three To Eight Shades.

The gel is a hydrogen peroxide compound that diffuses through enamel and breaks the long-chain pigment molecules trapped inside dentine into smaller, less visible ones. It does not strip a layer off the tooth.

Because the change happens inside dentine rather than on the surface, the result outlasts anything a polish or a whitening toothpaste can deliver.

Your Starting Colour Sets The Ceiling.

Yellow and brown staining from tea, coffee, red wine and tobacco sits in the organic layer that peroxide attacks directly, so those cases respond fastest.

Grey is a different problem. Tetracycline banding from childhood antibiotics, and the greyness of a tooth that has lost its nerve, are structural. Bleaching moves them barely at all. We check this at the assessment and say honestly when veneers, not whitening, are the only route to the shade you have in mind.

What The Lamp Does, And What It Does Not.

The light in whitening photographs contributes far less than the marketing suggests. Peroxide concentration, contact time and how well the barrier isolates the gel from your gums are what determine the outcome.

The lamp mainly accelerates the early reaction and, at higher heat, increases sensitivity. We use it because it shortens chair time, not because it produces a whiter tooth. A clinic charging a premium for a specific lamp brand is charging you for the wrong variable.

Sensitivity: Why, And How Long.

Peroxide temporarily opens the dentinal tubules, which is why cold air and cold drinks can sting for a day or two. It is a normal, self-limiting response and not damage to enamel.

It settles within 24 to 48 hours in almost everyone. A desensitising gel before and after the session reduces it considerably, and we use one as standard rather than selling it.

What It Costs And How Long It Holds.

An in-office session is €180 and takes about ninety minutes, including isolation of the gums and two or three gel applications. Expect the result to hold twelve to twenty-four months.

Smoking, daily coffee, black tea, red wine and curry pull the shade back fastest. The first forty-eight hours are when enamel is most porous, so a white diet for two days genuinely matters. Home top-up trays extend the interval between sessions.

Whitening does not work on crowns, veneers or composite fillings. They keep their original shade. That is why we whiten first and match new work to the final colour, never the other way round.

The Ones People Actually Ask.

How much does a dental implant cost in Istanbul, Turkey?

At Swedish Clinic a German-made dental implant in Istanbul starts from €299, and our current campaign is Buy 3, Pay 2. The same implant brand typically costs €1,500-€2,500 per tooth in Western Europe and the UK. Your free pre-consultation gives you an exact, all-inclusive quote with no hidden fees.

Is zirconium crown treatment expensive in Turkey?

No, monolithic zirconium crowns in Istanbul start from €180 per tooth, roughly one fifth of UK and German prices. Zirconium is metal-free, does not create a grey gum line and is the material we recommend for most Hollywood Smile cases.

How are dental implant treatments done in Turkey?

Treatment begins with a 3D CT scan and digital planning. Implants are placed by a specialist dentist under local anaesthesia in a single session, then the jaw heals for 2-3 months before the permanent crown. Simple cases are completed in one 3-5 day visit in Istanbul and All-on-4 full arches in 4-6 days, with the final fitting on your second trip or via a temporary bridge.

Why are dental implants cheaper in Turkey than in Europe?

Lower running costs, favourable exchange rates and high patient volume, not lower quality. We use the same German-made implant systems and CAD/CAM zirconium as European clinics, in an internationally accredited hospital with a Turkish Ministry of Health tourism licence.

How many days do I need to stay in Istanbul for dental implants?

Plan 3-5 days for implant placement, 4-6 days for an All-on-4 full arch and 5-7 days for a zirconium smile makeover or veneers. Recovery is 2-3 days with no pain for most patients, and treatment is outpatient, no hospital stay. We help with airport transfers, a translator and your hotel so the trip is easy.

Are dental clinics in Turkey safe and accredited?

Ours is. Swedish Clinic holds Temos international accreditation for both dental and medical care, works under a Health Tourism Authorisation Certificate issued by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health, and operates an ISO 9001 (UKAS) certified management system. Every implant is placed by a licensed specialist dentist, never a technician.

Does getting a dental implant hurt?

No. Placement is performed under local anaesthesia, so you feel nothing during the procedure. Most patients describe only mild discomfort for a day or two afterwards, easily managed with standard painkillers.

How long do dental implants and zirconium crowns last?

With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, titanium implants can last a lifetime, which is why we back them with a lifetime warranty. Zirconium crowns typically last 15-20 years before they may need renewal.

Do you help with hotel, transfers and translation?

Yes. We arrange VIP airport transfers, a translator in your language and help with hotel booking, so you can focus entirely on your treatment, and enjoy Istanbul between appointments.
