Istanbul's two airports: which one to fly into
IST is bigger and better connected; SAW is often cheaper and closer for some hotels. Transfer time is the real difference.
Istanbul Airport (IST)
On the European side, 40-60 minutes from Şişli depending on traffic. Most long-haul and full-service carriers land here, and it is the easier arrival if you are tired or travelling after treatment.
Sabiha Gökçen (SAW)
On the Asian side, 60-90 minutes to Şişli and longer in rush hour, because the route crosses the Bosphorus. Low-cost carriers favour it and fares are often lower, worth it if the saving is meaningful, not if it is €20.
Traffic is the variable
Istanbul traffic between 07:30-10:00 and 16:30-20:00 can double any transfer. We plan pickups around your flight and around the clinic schedule so you are not sitting in a car when you should be resting.
