Vitamins, amino acids and hyaluronic acid injected into the scalp. There is no standard formula, which is why the evidence is thin and we recommend PRP first.
Mesotherapy is a series of micro-injections into the scalp, one to four millimetres deep, delivering a mixed solution rather than a single drug. Typical cocktails contain B-group vitamins, biotin, amino acids, trace minerals and hyaluronic acid, and some add dutasteride. A course usually runs to four or eight sessions, weekly at first and then monthly, each lasting twenty to thirty minutes under topical anaesthetic.
There is no standard formula. Two clinics selling mesotherapy are often injecting quite different solutions, which is precisely why comparative evidence is thin — you cannot study a treatment that changes from provider to provider. Minoxidil and finasteride have decades of controlled data behind them, PRP has a moderate and growing body of evidence, and vitamin cocktails have neither. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling something.
As an adjunct it is reasonable: supporting scalp condition alongside PRP, in the months after a transplant, or for a patient who cannot or will not take oral medication and wants something with a low risk profile. Injected dutasteride has more support behind it than the vitamin mixes, but it is off-label and carries the same considerations as the oral drug. It is a support act, not a treatment for baldness.
We do not sell a mesotherapy course to a patient at Norwood 5 who needs surgery, and we never present it as an alternative to a transplant. If you have six hundred euros to spend on non-surgical treatment, PRP at €600 has better evidence behind it and that is what we recommend first. Mesotherapy sits inside our aftercare rather than on the price list as a headline product.
Less than most people expect. Topical anaesthetic goes on twenty minutes beforehand and the needles are very fine, so patients usually describe pressure and brief stinging rather than pain.
No. Nothing injected into skin that has already lost its follicles will bring them back. Mesotherapy and PRP work on follicles that are still alive but miniaturising.
