Which hair goes into an eyebrow, and why

Eyebrow grafts come from the back of the scalp, and the exact strip matters. We take from the nape and just above it, where hair is finest and grows in a flatter, softer pattern than crown hair, which produces a bristly brow. Every graft is a single follicle, trimmed under magnification, because a two-hair unit inside a brow shows two shafts emerging from one point. That detail is the classic signature of a poorly done eyebrow transplant.

Drawing the arch on your face, not on a chart

The design follows three landmarks: the inner edge above the nasal ala, the peak roughly two thirds along and above the outer edge of the iris, and the tail on a line drawn from the nostril past the outer corner of the eye. We draw it with you sitting upright, awake and looking straight ahead, then recheck it with your normal expression, because brows designed on a reclined patient consistently end up sitting too high once you stand.

Angle: the part that cannot be corrected later

Eyebrow hair lies almost flat, at ten to fifteen degrees to the skin, and its direction reverses across the brow, the head sweeps upward, the body runs horizontally outward, the tail angles slightly down. Each graft is placed to that map individually, one at a time. This is why a case of only 200 to 400 grafts takes as long as a far larger scalp session, and why the price sits at €1,200.

Who we turn away

We do not transplant into an active alopecia areata patch, a brow tattooed with permanent makeup in the previous six months, or skin still healing from a burn or recent laser. We also decline patients who want a shape copied from a photograph that does not match their own bone structure. For several of these situations micropigmentation is a better and cheaper answer, and we say so rather than taking the booking.
