Ultrasound breaks the fat apart before it is suctioned, which matters in fibrous areas and matters far less in soft ones.
Vaser sends ultrasound energy down a thin probe and separates the fat before any of it is suctioned. The emulsified fat then leaves through a smaller cannula with less mechanical tearing of the tissue around it. Traditional liposuction relies on the cannula itself to break the fat loose, which works well in soft areas and becomes slow and traumatic in fibrous ones. The difference is in how the tissue is separated, not in what leaves the body.
Fibrous fat is where the ultrasound earns its place: the male chest, the upper back, the flanks, and any area that has been operated on before. Scar tissue holds fat in a dense matrix that a plain cannula releases unevenly, and uneven release is what produces ripples you can see in side light. In those regions we use Vaser as standard. Superficial work close to the skin is also safer when the fat has already been emulsified.
On soft, untouched fat — the outer thigh of a woman in her thirties, for example — a well-performed traditional liposuction gives the same contour. Ultrasound is not permission to remove more, and the skin-tightening effect described in marketing is modest: it will not rescue skin that has already lost its elasticity. If a consultation sells you tightening as the main benefit rather than cleaner fat removal, treat that promise with care.
Vaser liposuction starts at €2,400 for the first treatment region, including general anaesthesia, theatre and anaesthetist fees, the first compression garment and the checks before you fly. Further regions are priced individually and written into the plan you receive before travelling. Most patients describe less soreness in the first week because less mechanical force is applied to the tissue. Bruising and swelling still follow the same four to six week curve, and painkillers are usually needed for two or three evenings either way.
Only for a single very small area. Anything covering the abdomen, flanks or thighs is done under general anaesthesia with an anaesthetist present and one night in the hospital.
