Implant brands explained: why the name on the box matters

An unbranded implant can be impossible to service abroad ten years later. Here is what to ask before anything is placed.

Why the system matters more than the screw

Every implant system has its own connection geometry, abutments and tools. If a crown loosens in five years and your dentist at home cannot identify the system, the fix becomes surgery instead of a ten-minute appointment.

Documented brands versus 'equivalent' fixtures

Established German and Swiss systems publish long-term survival data and keep components available for decades. Unbranded fixtures sold at a fraction of the price may have identical geometry on paper and no documented follow-up at all.

What to ask for in writing

The brand name, the system line, the diameter and length placed, and an implant passport card. We issue this document as standard — any clinic that will not is telling you something.

Does a premium brand justify a premium price?

At our prices the brand costs you very little extra, so the question is academic here. In markets where an implant costs €2,000, the brand premium is often where the margin hides.

Implant brands explained: why the name on the box matters

Yes, if the system is documented. That is why we give every patient an implant passport with brand, line and dimensions.
