Should you bring someone with you?
Not medically necessary for most procedures, but the first 48 hours are considerably easier with company.
When a companion is genuinely advised
Bariatric surgery, mommy makeover, large-volume body contouring and any procedure with a hospital stay. Also for patients with mobility limitations, anxiety, or those who simply do not want to be alone in a hotel after an operation.
What they can and cannot do
They can attend consultations and the discharge briefing, and stay with you at the hotel. For infection control they do not enter the operating theatre or recovery, and clinical consent remains between you and the surgeon.
Practical arrangements
Companion transfers are included, and hotels are booked as twin or double at no significant extra cost. Companions are welcome at the dietitian and aftercare briefings, often they remember more of it than the patient does.
If you travel alone
Most patients do, and it works. We check on you daily at the hotel, transfers are arranged door to door, and your coordinator is a message away. Say so in advance and we schedule accordingly.
