Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) is one of the most requested aesthetic procedures — but the recovery is widely misunderstood. Here's an honest, week-by-week timeline so you know exactly what to expect.

The procedure

Open or closed rhinoplasty refines the nose to fit your face — preserving your character while fixing what bothers you. It's performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon under general anaesthesia, takes 1.5–3 hours, and usually requires one night in a private suite.

Days 1–7: the splint week

You'll have a small external splint and possibly internal supports. Swelling and bruising around the eyes peak at days 2–3, then fade. Most patients feel "blocked" rather than in pain. The splint comes off around day 7 — the moment most patients first see their new profile.

Weeks 2–4: back to normal life

Visible bruising is usually gone by two weeks. You can return to work and light activity. Most of the dramatic swelling subsides, though the nose still feels firm and slightly swollen, especially the tip.

Months 2–6: refinement

Swelling continues to settle gradually. By three months you'll see most of the result. The tip is the last area to fully refine.

Month 12+: the final result

The definitive shape — especially the tip — emerges over 12 months as the last residual swelling resolves. Patience here is rewarded with a natural, harmonious result.

Recovery tips

  • Sleep with your head elevated for the first two weeks.
  • Avoid heat, strenuous exercise and glasses resting on the bridge.
  • Stay hydrated and avoid salt to reduce swelling.
  • Use WhatsApp access to your surgeon for any concern — check-up video calls at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months are included.

Cost in Turkey

Rhinoplasty at Swedish Clinic starts from €2,900, performed by an ISAPS-certified surgeon at a partner hospital with full ICU — a fraction of Western prices for the same standard.
