Botox and dermal fillers are often confused, but they do completely different things. Used correctly — and conservatively — they refresh the face without looking "done". Here's the dermatologist-led explanation we give every patient.
What does Botox do?
Botox relaxes the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles — the lines that appear when you move your face: frown lines between the brows, forehead lines and crow's feet. It doesn't add volume; it softens movement. Results appear within 3–7 days and last 3–4 months.
What do fillers do?
Dermal fillers (hyaluronic acid, e.g. Juvederm and Restylane) add volume and structure: plumping lips, restoring cheek volume, smoothing nasolabial folds and defining the jawline. Results are immediate and last 6–18 months depending on the area.
Which do you need?
- Lines from movement (forehead, between brows, crow's feet) → Botox.
- Lost volume or definition (lips, cheeks, folds, jaw) → fillers.
- Both are often combined for a balanced, natural refresh.
Our philosophy: minimum effective dose
The injectables industry has a bad habit of overdosing. At Swedish Clinic every injectable is administered by a board-certified dermatologist — never a nurse, never a "medical aesthetician" — and we use the lowest amount that achieves the result you want. We use FDA/CE-approved brands only. The goal is a rested, natural version of you, not a frozen face.
Downtime
Minimal. Botox: no downtime, avoid heat and pressure for 24h. Fillers: possible mild redness or swelling for a few hours. A single 30-minute appointment is enough — no overnight stay required, easy to combine with another treatment or a Bosphorus day-trip.
Cost in Turkey
Botox from €150, dermal fillers from €250, PRP from €200. We also offer a free 2-week touch-up for under-dosed areas.
